Whatever the case, when you ‘come in off the bench’ to join Freightways as a Freight Handler, you’ll be getting work that totally works for you. Sure, that extra money in your pocket is a big deal…but there’s heaps more on offer here that makes this an awesome job for you. For starters, applying is super easy. We’re keen to have you on the team, so we can get you earning dollars really quickly. And we’re flexible! We can structure shifts and hours around other stuff you’ve got going on (maybe that’s Uni or taking the kids to school). So – are you ready to step up, stay active and join a great team that’s getting it sorted?

FREIGHTWAYS – YOU ALREADY KNOW US

While the actual Freightways name might not ring any bells, we’re sure you’ll know many of our brands. Hey, we’ve probably knocked on your door a few times! That’s because within the Freightways group you’ll find familiar names like New Zealand Couriers, Post Haste, Big Chill, DX Mail, Sub 60, Castle Parcels…and plenty more. So we’re a big, busy operation handling LOTS of freight and parcels. It’s super busy right now – and that’s why we need you off the bench and on our team! One of the best parts is we’re a down-to-earth, supportive group who enjoy our work and looking out for each other. So join us and you’ll be in good company, in more ways than one.

THE FREIGHT HANDLER JOB – WHAT IT IS, AND WHAT TO EXPECT

As a Freight Handler, you’ll be based in one of our distribution centres – basically a big warehouse thousands of packages pass through each day. These parcels need to get where they’re going, as quickly as possible…and that’s where our Freight Handlers step in and work their sorting magic. It’s all about hands-on sorting of packages, so as you might expect it’s fast paced, physical work. The great thing is it keeps you active, alert and on the move, while you enjoy working with a small team during your shift. Being physically fit and able to handle/lift heavy items is important, and you need good attention to detail to ensure packages are properly sorted and ready for dispatch to the right places around the country. We know it can be hard to get a feel for a role without doing it, so we can offer the chance to come and give it a try. If you like and think it’s for you, great! And if not, no worries.
